Troparion
O God-fearing and thrice-venerable Syrian Fathers, lift up your holy hands to the Heavenly King and pray that He grant peace to our nation, safety to all Christian people, and great mercy to all those who call upon His name!

Monk John Zedazeni and his Twelve Disciples: Habib, Bishop of Nekress, Anthony of Martkob, David of Garej, Xeno of Ikalto, Thaddeus of Stepantsmind, Ise Bishop of Tsilkan, Joseph Bishop of Alaverdi, Isidor of Samtavi, Michael of Ulumbi, Pyrrhos of Breti, Stephen of Khyri, Shio of Mgvim were holy Syrian ascetics trained in Antioch. They were originally from Gruznia and went to Antioch in order to return to more firmly establish Christianity in Georgia in the face of aggressive promulgation of fire worship. They each did wonderful spiritual feats. Most established monasteries. Two became bishops.

This icon is from the monastery built on the site of St. John's grave. The inscriptions are in Georgian.
